Shaun Murphy, one of just 10 snooker players to have won the Triple Crown, signed with ISM in July 2016.
‘The Magician’ from Harlow, England, turned professional in 1998 aged 15. Shaun was named ‘snooker newcomer of the year’ in 2000 after claiming the English Open Championship.
Shaun won the World Championship in 2005 (as a qualifier) as one of the six ranking, four minor ranking and 10 non-ranking events.
He then went on to win the 2008 UK Championship and 2015 Masters to complete the Triple Crown. Speaking of the achievement, Shaun said: “The first time I came to this great event I would have been 11 or 12 and to finally get the win and the crown is unbelievable.”
Shaun finished 2014 in fine form. In October 2014, Murphy picked up the Bulgarian Open after a 4-2 victory over Martin Gould. The following month he won 4-0 against Robert Milkins in the Ruhr Open. During the latter victory, Shaun became the first player to have three 147 breaks in a calendar year.
After this milestone, Shaun said: “I had four or five chances at maximums before the final. When I got the chance tonight I was under so much pressure.”
Over his career he has had over 350 centuries and a quartet of 147 breaks.
On joining ISM, Shaun said: “I believe ISM’s extensive knowledge of sports management and range of contacts will be a massive ‘plus’ for me.”
Shaun won a seventh ranking title of his career when he beat Judd Trump 4-2 to secure victory at the Gibraltar Open in March 2017.
