What a difference a year has made in the career and life of Matt Wallace.

From unknown to seven-time winner and US Open qualifier, Moor Park's Matt is now closing in on a place in world golf's top 100.

Six wins on the Alps Tour gained the 27-year-old a place on the Challenge Tour and a win in Portugal at a co-sanctioned event gave him playing rights among the big boys for the rest of 2017.

I have no doubts whatsoever that Matt will be joining them for much longer than that.

Matt always felt he had the head and physique to become a top golfer, but was not quite as certain about his technique so he set about finding somebody who could hone it.

The search ended at the door of another Matt, this one with the surname of Belsham, another relative unknown until he was recognised as the swing coach behind the amazing rise of Sweden's Alex Noren.

I am convinced we will be hearing much more of the two Matts in the years to come.

Although golf is mainly an individual pursuit, Matt has been an enthusiastic member of ISM's Class of '17, our pioneering sponsorship programme.

His exploits will have encouraged the others,  Ben Eccles and Clement Sordet - two more destined to claim plenty of headlines.

What a great week we had at Wentworth and congratulations to all who made the BMW PGA such a special week.  Among them, Lee Westwood, Scott Jamieson and Nino Bertasio, who all finished in the top 15.
