Two In Top Five In Abu Dhabi

Rory McIlroyRory McIlroy, playing in his first event of 2010, finished in 3rd place in the Abu Dhabi Golf Championahip.  Rory shot rounds of 66, 69, 67 and 67 to complete the event in nineteen under par, just two shots adrift of winner, Germany's Martin Kaymer.

 

He made a great birdie on the seventeenth to draw within one shot but on the eighteenth hit his drive in the rough and went on to make par to Kaymer's birdie which took the title by one shot from Ian Poulter who finished on twenty under.

 

South African's Louis Oosthuizen finished in 5th position after rounds of 67, 71, 68 and 66 leaving him on sixteen under par. Louis saved his best round for the final day and amassed seven birdies and just one bogey.

 

England's Dave Horsey had a great final day firing a 65 to add to his previous three rounds of 73, 66 and 70 - his fourteen under par finish gave him a tie of 8th position. Compatriot Chris Wood who had been threatening the leaders all week fired a disappointing 73 in the last round and finished on eleven under par in a tie for 19th. Ross McGowan also had a good week and finished in a tie for 27th on nine under par.

 

Thomas Aiken finished in a tie for 21st on ten under, whilst Simon Dyson finished in a tie for 37th on seven under.
