European Tour Profile

Matt enjoyed an outstanding start to life on the European Tour, winning the Open de Portugal in only the fourth start of his debut year in 2017 and is now a four-time European Tour winner.

It was part of an unforgettable 12 months that saw Matt play in the US Open and finish fourth at the Italian Open.

Ten months after that first European Tour title, Matt picked up a second, in just his 32nd start, with a play-off win over Andrew Johnston at the Hero Indian Open.

He followed that up with a superb victory at the BMW International Open in June 2018 before success at Made in Denmark three months later.

It all started with an incredible run of form on the Alps Tour in 2016.

Matt won on five consecutive starts on The Alps Tour, and six over the course of the year, in 2016, not finishing lower than fourth in nine tournaments to reach 242 in the Official World Golf Rankings and he went on to sign for ISM in October 2016.

He featured on the European Tour on two occasions in 2016, making his debut at the Nordea Masters in June, and also finishing fourth at the Terre dei Consoli Open on the Challenge Tour.

Matt's performances on the Alps Tour secured him a Challenge Tour card and he won the Open de Portugal, co-sanctioned with the European Tour, in only his fourth start.

Starting the week with a 10-under-par 63, he never gave up the lead, shooting further rounds of 66, 73 and 69 to win by three strokes, securing a full European Tour card for the rest of 2017 and moving up to 137th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

"It's the best feeling ever," he said."It's always been a dream to win on the European Tour.

"Those first two days were really easy, that third day was the hardest day of my life and Sunday was tough but it's so satisfying and I'm really happy."

As well as his impressive finish in Milan, Matt ended 2017 with top-10 finishes at Made in Denmark and the KLM Open.

Matt clocked up a second European Tour victory with success at the Hero Indian Open in March 2018.

Victory number three was at the BMW International Open in June 2018 thanks to an incredible final round of 65.

Matt collected yet another win - his third in the space of less than six months - with a superb display at Made in Denmark.

He birdied five of his last six holes to force a four-man play-off and two birdies were enough.
