Jeev Milkha Singapore Glory

JeevWhat a week in Singapore with a 1-2-4 finish for ISM players at the Barclays Open.

In all we had seven players in the top 20 with honours going to Jeev Milkha Singh, a very popular champion holding off the late challenge of runner-up Ernie Els and another three-time Major champion Padraig Harrington, who both had putts to force a play-off.

The Barclays Singapore Open is one of my favourite tournaments of the year and has been rightly hailed AS Asia's major.  Everything is first class about it and the Barclays pavilion behind the 9th and 18th greens was a popular venue for all our players.

Barclays certainly know how to put on a show and it was made all the better by Jeev winning closely followed by Ernie and the rapidly-rising Rory McIlroy.  It turned out to be a fantastic finish on a great golf course and Jeev triumphed for the biggest win of his career.  What he did in Asia as an Asian was bigger than his win in the Volvo Masters.

Ernie's runner up role put him back in the world's top 10 again after one week out while Jeev's success sent him into the top 50 again, a position which if he hangs on until December 31 will see him heading to Augusta next April.

That prospect also beckons for Rory, Darren Clarke, Charl Schwartzel and James Kingston, who are all currently in the 60's in the rankings and need a strong finish... > More
